Longtime Beacon Journal reporter and Guild officer Paul Schleis has a neat message for her phone mail. After the obligatory “You call is important,” Schleis adds “And thank you for reading the Beacon Journal.”
It is a nice touch which other staff members at the BJ should adopt. They will need the support of readers to maintain a good newspaper for Akron.
A community without a local daily newspaper is missing much. Our hope is that any of our blog readers who are not in the news biz, will support a staff which is trying to bring you the best newspaper possible. Many workers other than those at the BJ are experiencing layoffs and other difficulties.
So we join Paula in saying, “Thank you for reading the Beacon Journal.”
