List compiled on status of layoffs

There is finally a list on the BJ Retirees web site indicating the status of Beacon Journal staff members who were laid off in August. The list is compiled with the best information available from the Akron unit of the Newspaper Guild and staff members themselves. The layoff prompted a massive number of volunteer resignations by staff members with about 300 years of experience. Many of the laid-off staff members quickly obtained jobs elsewhere and therefore declined call back offers. There are, however, still a few still looking for work.
