A painful time

Reading on Harry's BJ Retirees blog about Gloria, Sarah and Gary is like dying from a thousand cuts. Worse, living and suffering from a thousand cuts.

If there is justice in this world, then even the rats are deserting Tony Ridder's yachts, just as he deserted his obligation to KRI and its employees.

Now the Canadian is cooking my BJ friends' bacon, layoff by layoff.

I just hope all this doesn't eventually make the Record-Courier look like the best newspaper in the five-county area.

OK, John, lay off the bad-mouthing of the new owner of the BJ, give him a chance to put the paper in shape to compete profitably and run it as he sees it, after all he IS the owner. I, as the rest of us, also feel for the laid off people but they are the youngest ones, usually, and they will land on their feet, often doing better than they did at the Beacon. Let's just wait how this shakes out and see where we are a year from now.

As for Tony Ridder, that is past history, he did what he could, it just wasn't enough.

Ott, will you feel the same when the new owner decimates your medical and prescription coverage to "run it as he sees fit"?

Tony Ridder did NOT do what he could. John Knight did, and would have.

Aren't you tired of CEOs buying more and more yachts by laying people off?
