Dawidziak's top 10 TV series of 2012


Plain Dealer TV critic Mark Dawidziak, once in the same role at the Beacon Journal, lists his top 10 TV series for 2012.

1.   "Justified" (FX) – Drama about U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens (Timothy Olyphant) despite killing off Emmy winner Margo Martindale as Kentucky crime matriarch Mags Bennett.

2. "Mad Men" (AMC) – Drama about NYC advertising agency.

3. "Louie" (FX) -- Louis C.K. is the writer, director, producer, editor and star of this cable comedy. He plays a fictionalized version of himself, the stand-up comedian.

4. "Breaking Bad" (AMC) – Walt White (three-time Emmy winner Bryan Cranston) is a former science teacher who cooks the world’s best drugs.

5. "Parenthood" (NBC) – Drama has Kristina Braverman (Cleveland native Monica Potter) battling breast cancer..

6. "The Middle" (ABC) – Bay Village native Patricia Heaton stars in this comedy about a Midwest couple trying to keep a working-class existence working for them and their children.

7. "Treme" (HBO) – Writer-executive producer David Simon's cable drama about post-Katrina New Orleans with fabulous jazz snippets.

8. "The Walking Dead" (AMC) – Flesh-chomping zombies and humans desperately hanging on to what it means to be human.

9. "Homeland" (Showtime) –Claire Danes, Damian Lewis and Mandy Patinkin in a high-octane espionage vehicle.

10. "American Horror Story"(FX) – There is no more relentlessly creepy and disturbing drama on TV than this nerve-jangling supernatural series from co-creators and executive producers Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk about a Catholic institution for the insane.
