Retired BJ Features Dept. leader Ann Sheldon Mezger found a gem in Kidron.

Let Ann explain:
“It's worth a trip to Lehman's Hardware in Kidron just to see the display of relief wood carvings in the exhibition room by the entrance. Seeing those works by Paul Weaver of Holmes County was the highlight of a shopping trip (husband) Roger (PD and BJ retired editor) and I made to Amish country today. Weaver carves as a hobby and doesn't sell his work. He could probably make a fortune if he did.”
Retired BJ Reference Library chief Cathy Tierney concurs:

“I've been there -- loved it.”

The Lehman web site extols:

Four pre-Civil War era buildings and a Buggy Barn cinema let guests relax on Amish-made church pews for gardening seminars. Antiques line the walls and products you thought they quit making fill the shelves.

Lehman’s has 32,000 square feet to display such things as oil lamps, handmade pottery, copper cookie cutters, wooden and tin toys, cast iron cookware, hand tools, retro refrigerators and wood-burning pizza ovens. It’s been around since 1955.
