Kent State trio cleans up Facebook account's dirty laundry

Kent State University computer science majors Camden Fullmer, Daniel Gur and David Steinberg created SimpleWash, an Internet app that allows users to easily remove or edit objectionable content from their Facebook accounts. In the 10 days following the launch, the site attracted more than 135,000 visitors from more than 175 countries.

Prospective employers routinely scour Facebook accounts of job applications for objectionable material. SimpleWash removes such content.

The Kent State trio came up with the app during a weekend “hackathon,” a Jan. 18 – 20 programming competition at the University of Pennsylvania.
