BJ photo coverage of Obama's visit.

There were three photos on page A-1 of the Beacon Journal today on President Barrack Obama's visit to the Cleveland area--two were shot by Associated Press p\hotographers and one by the New York Times.

Harry,

I too noticed those credit lines. Back during the Poorman era, one of our managing editors, (not sure which one, we had a bunch of them back then) told me that anytime the president set foot in the state of Ohio, that I better have a photog there. I think he was covering his butt. He didn't want another Dallas happening on his watch and not having a photographer there to record it. It created scheduling problems here since we were short staffed because of hiring freezes.

So, that's why I had to drive all the way to Cincinnati, and spend the night, just to cover Reagan in the morning. The drive back for deadline was a bitch. All for a couple of long lens shots of him speaking at a outdoor rally. Hell, I couldn't even get to the airport for the "death watch" Air Force One take off.
