Dyer gets national attention

BJ columnist Bob Dyer has gone national over his series on televangelist Ernest Angley’s activities at Grace Cathedral in Cuyahoga Falls.

The headline in the Daily Caller, a conservative news website based in Washington founded by libertarian conservative Tucker Carlson and Neil Patel, once adviser to former Vice President Dick Cheney:

Betsy Rothstein’s article quotes Dyer: “Until this summer, I thought he was relatively harmless. “I didn’t realize all this other stuff was going on.”

Bob saw the light this summer when he was sent a 2½-hour video of a service Angley gave about inspecting men before and after vasectomies.

Angley trashed an associate pastor who resigned because he said Angley had touched him inappropriately for seven years and he just couldn’t take it anymore.

Bob got his BJ supervisors to suspend his three-days-a-week columns -- one of the major assets of the paper amid cascading staff cuts -- for two months while he worked on the Angley expose.

The series was too hot for ABC’s “Good Morning America” to handle. ABC was particularly worried about a discussion of a male’s balls falling out of his ball sac.

Replied Bob, Ohio Columnist of the Year for seven straight years: “This country is fine with murder; they’re not fine with weird, twisted sexual stuff.”
