Manchester native among 7 CIA agents killed

An Akron area ( Manchester)  native, 39-year-old Scott Michael Roberson,.  was among seven CIA officers killed in a suicide bombing Wednesday in Afghanistan, the family told the Cleveland Plain Dealer after receiving CIA oermission to grieve publicly.

A public memorial service is planned in Akron, his sister, Amy Messner of Cuyahoga Falls said.

The PD had 16 graphs and a photo of Roberson posted at 8:36 p.m. Saurday on Cleveland.com.  The Beacon Journal used a 69-word item under FirstWORD on page A1 Sunday

The CIA death story in the PD vs. a sidebar in the ABJ is a telling sign about weekend staffing in Akron.

When will the Beacon share the info about Bill Powell, the first African-American to conceptualize, build, own and operate a golf course, passing away on New Years Eve?

National radio shows carried that info Thursday night. The Rep covered it. The PD ran a short AP story. So far, nothing in the Beacon or on Ohio.com about an important local fixture in the battle against racisim.
