Some newspaper people are dinosaurs if they are old fossils who don’t keep up with the current trends.

Eric Sandstrom, who worked at the Beacon Journal from 1986-1998 before becoming managing editor / marketing & communications at University Hospitals Case Medical Center in Cleveland, wound up among  dinosaur fossils in Dinosaur National Monument in McKee Springs.

And looking at petroglyphs and pictographs from the past.

Dinosaur Monument straddles Utah and Colorado on the northern edge of the Colorado Plateau. It is 13 miles from Vernal, Utah but in Colorado and has a lot of unpaved roads.

Eric teaches a public relations course at Cleveland State University. His wife, Monica, teaches math at Roswell Kent Middle School in Akron.

They vacation often in Colorado, where their adult children live.

Eric is a long distance runner who competed in the Road Runner Akron Marathon with Denny Gordon, Mike Jewell and Greg Maibach.
