No Lack of opinions on Andy’s return to NBC power

Former NBC executive Andy Lack has been named chairman of NBC News and MSNBC.

Now entertainment reporters are trying to read the tea leaves for what this means for Brian Williams, suspended for lying about his exploits while covering the news.

Pat Fili-Krushel will step down as NBCUniversal News Group Chairman, a casualty of her mishandling of the Brian Williams saga.

Politico’s Dylan Byers writes that Lack, a “close friend and adviser to Williams,” might orchestrate a comeback for the embattled anchor.

New York Daily News TV editor Don Kaplan disagrees.

Lack has talked to former “Today” co-host Katie Couric about returning to the network.

While at NBC, Lack presided over the News division’s rise to number one, led by “Today,” “Nightly News,” “Dateline” and “Meet the Press.”
