Katie & Sarah's plane returned to Paris

Katie Byard and Sarah Vradenburg are staying longer in Paris. Let Katie explain:
“So we're about 3-4 hours from Paris over the Atlantic Ocean, east of Iceland, when the pilot announces that we are headed back to Paris. Problems with one engine.

" The plane jettisons fuel so it is light enough for a normal landing. Finally got into hotel room near airport after three, four? Hours. Waiting in line to get instructions on what hotel etc. so much for my first overnight in Paris! Ah City of Light!”

As it turned out, whoever handled their trip couldn't find them a flight home the next day, so they're hoping to take off for Ohio on Monday.

BJ reporter Katie was in Lucca, Italy Friday on her whirlwind tour of Italy with former BJ editorial board member Sarah Vradenburg and Firestone High grad Cheryl Miller, once at Akron Children’s Hospital, who lives in Canal Fulton.

Katie had written that the group would be leaving Lucca on Saturday for Ohio. But fate, and a suspicious engine, decided otherwise.

The ladies did Pisa on Friday, the Leaning Tower bit and more. They hopped on a train in Siena to get to Pisa.

They went from Lucca to Paris, got on the plane and then had the adventure that Katie described in the lead. Get home safely, ladies!

Retired BJ reporter Jim Carney, Katie’s husband, apparently is manning the home front and the pets while Katie is galivanting around Italy.
