He was born in Akron, Ohio on February 2, 1932 and retired to Sarasota, Fla. in 1987.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Gina (Kolar); daughters, Jennifer (Charlie) Wilson, Beverly (Randy) Thiel; and son, David Jr. (Karen); four grandchildren, Brooke Jones, Ty Thiel and Sarah and Austin White; three nieces and 12 nephews.
Dave retired after 24 years with the Akron Beacon Journal. He was a Tennessee Squire and a member of Coventry-Akron Masonic Lodge 0083, Sahib Shrine, Venice Shrine Club, and Venice Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1308. He was a past member of Tadmor Temple, Temple Guard in Akron, Ohio. Dave also served on the Board of Jacaranda Home Owners Association as Secretary for several years.
There will be a Masonic Service and a Celebration of Dave's life for friends and family on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at at his home in Venice, Fla. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association .
