Cal Deshong, Gene McClellan, Carl Nelson and Al Hunsicker--printers all
Ken Wright, among the nine BJ alums at today's monthly get-together at Papa Joe’s restaurant on Akron-Peninsula Road, has bounced back from a year of surgeries. Well enough for Ken and his wife to spend several weeks in January at their son’s Miami house.
Ken was the Composing electronics coordinator at the BJ. John Olesky was the Newsroom’s coordinator, so the two spent a lot of time together in the same room ushering in the early days of the BJ’s computer era.
Most of the time at Papa Joe's was spent laughing at tales about some of the characters at the BJ over the decades. And there were plenty of those, in every department. If you show up at 1 p.m. the second Wednesday of the month, you can join in the laughter.
Besides Ken, others at the March gathering were Pat Dougherty of Engraving, Cal DeShong, Gene McClellan, Al Hunsicker and Gene Nelson of Composing, and Tom Moore, Dave Boerner and John Olesky from the Newsroom.
Blog Note: Sorry, no mugshot provided of John Olesky. That's the thanks he gets for posting the information. That could be his bald head in the photo above. Nice pay he gets.
