| Barb & Bob Springer |
Bob Springer and Barbara J. Hipsman Springer observed their 37th
wedding anniversary today (Thursday, September 1).
At least this time they are
together for their anniversary. Bob spent his 35th wedding
anniversary to Barbara Hipsman Springer in Portland, Oregon helping daughter
Anna move from St. Charles, Illinois while Barb stayed behind. That was in
2014.
Daughter Kyla
already was in Portland and Ann joined her sister. Kyla went to Nepal in 2015
to help victims of that country’s worst earthquake in 80 years.
Barb retired in 2013 after 26 years in Journalism
and Mass Communication at Kent State.
Bob came to Kent State in 2008 as an academic adviser after 19
years at the Beacon Journal as a copy editor, reporter and, for his final 14
years there, as the Op-ed editor and member of the editorial board. He also retired from Kent State.
He is a Southern
Illinois journalism graduate who also worked at the Rocky Mountain News, the
Denver Post and the weekly Center (Colorado) Post-Dispatch.
