Filling the bill at the BJ retirees lunch

Tom Moore and oldest daughter, Carol                    Cal Deshong and Carl Nelson

There were at least five at the monthly lunch of Beacon Journal retirees this afternoon at Papa Joe's in the Valley.

Tom's oldest daughter, Carol, attended the lunch with him. She was a copy kid on weekends about 40 years ago and fondly remembers filling the paste pots. She also worked about a year on the switchboard until the switchboard was phased out.

Tom provided these photos. If  the photos show all those attending
then Tom and daughter represented  the editorial side while Calvin Deshong, Carl Nelson and Al Hunsicker (at right) were the contingent from the printers' side.

Damn!

Another senior moment.

I completely forgot about the 1 p.m. second Wednesday of the month gathering of BJ escapees. I could have make an even half-dozen.

I usually mark it on my calendar months ahead. I'll do that right now through the rest of the year.

Sorry, guys. I let you down.

Good thing Tom Moore came through with the photos and Harry figured out the totals.

Thanks to my forgetfulness, that was, if you don't count the 2 who showed up during the March 2010 snowstorm, the lowest attendance since last April, 2009, which also had 5 show up. And the third-lowest since I started keeping records of attendance in January 2006.

Reported attendance numbers for the past 13 months:

April 14, 2010 . . . . 5

March 10, 2010 . . . . . 12

February 10, 2010 . . . . 2

September 9, 2009 ……………. 8

August 12, 2009 ………………. 7

July 8, 2009 ……………………. 10

June 10, 2009 …………………. 10

May 14, 2009 ………………….. 8

April 8, 2009 …………………… 5
