Jack Pate launched his newspaper career as a paperboy for the Cleveland
Press, will retire at the end of as president and publisher of the Evansville
Courier & Press in Indiana.
The Pates have three children: Julia, a student at Castle High School;
David, a student at Purdue University; and Jacklyn, an Indiana University
graduate who works in sports marketing with The Marketing Arm in Dallas,Texas.
Pate’s great-grandfather hauled a printing press from Tennessee to Oklahoma
via covered wagon in the 1800s. His father was a production executive with
Scripps Howard, with jobs in Cleveland, Memphis and Pittsburgh, before retiring
as general manager of the Stuart News in Florida. His brother Mike is a retired
publisher of the Tallahassee Democrat in Florida.
