Post makes gains by adding, not cutting, staff

Amazon.com founder Jeff Bezos, who purchased the Washington Post more than two years ago for $250 million, has surpassed the New York Times in unique U.S. Web visitors two months running.

The newspaper’s digital growth — from about 26 million unique visitors in August 2013 to about 72 million in November 2015 — followed more national and international coverage and adding 70 employees to the newsroom, including about 50 reporters and editors, lifting the head count to about 700.

This contrasts with what other newspapers are doing – slashing staffs to reduce costs. Maybe this also reduces income more than the staff-slashing savings.
