“About three weeks ago Dave's neighbor got worried and went into his Springfield, Virginia home and found Dave on the floor with an 80-pound dog standing over him, trying to get him up. Dave had passed out but must have regained consciousness.
“Dave gave his neighbor the phone number for a friend, Michal Mainwaring, who called Frank Aukofer, a Milwaukee Journal retiree, who got Dave to
Fairfax, Virginia hospital.
“Dave was transferred for rehab to Inova Mt. Vernon Hospital about a week ago. A hospital spokesperson said they expected a full recovery.
“Dave has lost some ability on his left side.
His whole body is very weak. It is hard for him to eat with his right hand.
His speech was not affected, but his voice is very soft.
