10 days after her hip replacement surgery, retired BJ reporter
Charlene Nevada has progressed to using a cane to get around.
With the blessings of her physical therapist.
Hip replacements in America soared from 138,700
in 2000 to 310,800 in 2010 and closing in on 400,000 a year today.
Charlene, who retired after 35 years at Ol’ Blue Walls in 2005
before working for Burton D. Morgan
Foundation, a philanthrophy that provided grants to colleges, is married to Art Krummel, who was the
BJ’s chief artist, following in the shoes of the late Bud Morris and Joe Grace.
They bought a 2nd home in Garden City, South Carolina in
2010 which they later sold. That’s 13 miles from Pawleys
Island, South Carolina, where retired BJ printer Dick Latshaw and wife Pat
reside.
