Plagiarism pays well

Arizona State University professor Matthew Whitaker, accused of plagiarism multiple times, will be paid more than $200,000 in salary over the next 16 months and $25,000 in attorney fees to resign.

He gets $153,530 a year from ASU. He is co-director of the Center of Race and Democracy.

Whitaker passed off Chicago police material as his own for his $268,800 contract with Phoenix police over race and policing. 52 of the 84 slides were Chicago police slides.

Non-plussed, Whitaker posted: “I will be devoting my full efforts to teaching and working on behalf of racial healing, harmony, diversity and inclusion.”

He is an author and well-paid speaker about race in America.

Palagarism means “kidnapping” someone else’s work and passing it off as your own. The origin of plagiarism is early 17th century, from Latin plagiarius 'kidnapper' (from plagium 'a kidnapping,' from Greek plagion) + ism.
