Well, you can hardly have a Buckeye Book Festival in Wooster without being overwhelmed with a BJ presence, even ensconced among the 100 authors and illustrated who showed up.

On Saturday there was Chuck Ayers, who draws “Funky Winkerbean” and “Crankshaft” cartoons, with the guy who writes the ballooned words,  another Kent State graduate, Medina’s Tom Batiuk.

And Thrity Umbrigar, the Babe from Bombay, whose 6^th novel and 7^th book is “The Story Hour,” as usual set in her native India.

And Cinda Williams Chima, former BJ classified phone room ad-taker in the 1970s, young adults romance novelist and sister of BJ retiree Mike Williams.

And Bob Dyer, 7-time Ohio Columnist of the Year and former Blue Room lunch companion of John Olesky, until John’s 1996 retirement and weight loss of 15 pounds (I don’t think leaving the Blue Room and the weight loss are a coincidence).

David Giffels (“The Hard Way on Purpose” about Akron’s rough but inspiring life) was on the list, but canceled.

Thousands come to Liberty Street for the book fair, which began in 1987.

Bob Feller, Rapid Robert of Cleveland Indians strikeout fame (and a Baseball Hall of Famer) and Cleveland's de facto meterologist hall of famer Dick Goddard have been to previous Book Fairs in Wooster.
