The 2014 Kaleidoscope Art Show will take place Saturday, Nov. 29 at
Summit Artspace, 140 E. Market Street.
The opening reception will be 5-9 p.m. There’ll be refreshments and
voting on the various art works. Winners will be announced later in the
evening.
2013 winners included “Redemptionscape” by Susan Mencini, Tallmadge
Cornerstone Community School art teacher; Cheryl Townsend’s digital photo, “Parking
Lot Ferris Wheel,” Ted Lawson's
watercolor, "First Light," and “Hall of Mirrors” by Michelle Knapper.
A 2012 winner was "Watching the Shadows Dance" by Carol Klingel.
Former BJ
editor/columnist Connie Bloom again is the driving force behind the latest art
show.
In January Connie
whipped together eight local artists for an art show, “Upstairs, Downstairs,” all Penthouse
Artists in Summit Artspace – Connie (quilt fabric art); Joan Colbert (printmaking); Cari Miller (mixed-media); Terry
Klausman (sculpture/drawing); Carolyn Lewis (painting); Katina Pastis Radwanski
(painting/sculpture); Bradley Hart (photography); and Ron White
(sculpture/drawing).
In September the 3rd annual Akron Art Prize handed out
$10,000 at the Akron Art Museum with the grand prize going for “Between Here and There by” Lisa Demagall.
