NYT publisher: Abramson 10% above compensation of
her predecessor
New York Times Publisher Arthur Sulzberger, Jr. said that fired executive
editor Jill Abramson was making 10% more than her predecessor, Bill Keller,
contrary to reports that Abramson was fired because she demanded equal pay to
her male counterparts.
Said Sulzberger: “I decided that Jill
could no longer remain as executive editor for reasons having nothing to do
with pay or gender. ”
