Colbert to
replace Letterman
David Letterman, Stephen Colbert |
Four-time Emmy winner Stephen
Colbert will succeed David Letterman as “The Late Show” host when Letterman
retires after more than 20 years in 2015.
The “Colbert Report” host will stay
with Comedy Central through 2014.
The New York Times’ Bill Carter writes that Colbert will not host on CBS as
the characterized version of himself that he’s been playing for 17 years. “The
Colbert Report” premiered on Comedy Central in 2005, a spin-off featuring the
character Colbert launched on host John Stewart’s “The Daily Show” in 1997.
