It
looks like it's time to blow “taps” on our monthly Beacon
Journal
retiree luncheons.
I
got there at 1 pm. for July's meeting and was told one other
fellow
had showed but left.
So
it looks like we're down to one..or at the most two.
And
two, three or at the most four have showed up this year.
It's
been fun, meeting with the “family” you worked with for so many
years in the glory days of the newspaper.
When
the luncheon's started we had anywhere from 40 to 50 show up.
But
most are gone now and the younger crowd doesn't seem to be
interested.
As
somebody asked me one time: “Wonder were everybody is”?
I
answered: “At Greenlawn.”
And
the guy came back with: “Where's that restaurant?”
But
the date is still open for anybody that wants to show up. Maybe
there'll be some folks there: the second Wednesday of each
month, 1
pm. At Papa Joes in Merriman Valley.
