Fifty-three percent in the Associated Press-GfK poll
prefer increased taxes and a higher retirement age to cutting Social Security
benefits.
Social Security trustees say the massive retirement and
disability program will run out of money by 2033 unless changes are made.
Forty-seven percent said they trust President Obama to do
a better job on Social Security; 44% prefer presumptive Republican presidential
candidate Mitt Romney. Taking margin of error into account, that’s a tie.
