Fort Wayne Newspapers cuts salaries, hours

Report from Mitch Harper’s Fort Wayne Observed blog:

Fort Wayne Newspapers employees are subject to some severe belt-tightening. Employees have been informed that salaried employees will be subject to a 6% reduction in pay; full-time hourly employees will be have weekly hours cut from 40 hours to 37.5. 401K contributions have also been reduced from a match of 50% to 25%.

However, there are no employee lay-offs and reportedly no cuts in other benefits such as health insurance.

Fort Wayne Newspapers performs business functions for both the News-Sentinel and Journal Gazette under a joint operating agreement. FWN is owned by The Journal Gazette and Ogden Newspapers. The News Sentinel is a former Knight Ridder newspaper.
