I was surprised to get a bill in yesterday's mail for my annual subscription at $94.90 wheras last year is was $47.85. I called today and was told that indeed the cost to us has increased from the 25% annul price to 50%. I complained that my pension check did not get an increase but that is a moot point. The increase took effect about a month ago I was told.

hey, maybe we can go out and sell hotdogs to raise the extra cash. that seems to be the favorite at the bj for any staff recreation these days.
Darn it, Ott, you HAD to mention that you're getting a BJ pension. Now the new owner knows where to cut to get his money back! (:-)<><
Seriously, though, I am curious to see what the new owner will do with what's left of our medical coverage, and our marvelous prescription coverage. I mean, our annual out-of-pocket has gone from $150 to $300 to $2,000 under Tony Ridder. But the new owner might cut us off at the knees on medical coverage. It's the American Way nowadays.
It is unfortunate that Ott had to learn about the increase in the cost of his newspaper through an invoice. Too bad the Beacon was not considerate enough to let retirees know before they got their bill. I suppose when the new owner takes over, we will be learning a lot of bad news in the same way.
